
Optical fiber ribbons are applied in GYDTA to enhance the fiber density, which make it possible to produce high count fiber cable with relatively small diameter. Loose tubes are made of high modulus plastic and filled with filling compound to protect optical fiber ribbon. Loose tubes (and filler rod) are stranded around the metallic central strength member to form a compact and circular cable core, and the gap in the cable core is filled with water blocking compound. For some sizes of optical cable, the central strength member is covered with a layer of cushion. Polyethylene sheath is extruded after longitudinal wrapping of aluminum-plastic composite tape to provide the cable the ability of moisture-proof.
